3. 因為，由于

5. 用，由

1. 有時其后可接介詞短語

Choose a book from among these. 從這類書中選一本吧。

比較：

I took it from the bed. 我從床那兒拿的。

I took it from under the bed. 我從床下拿的。

注意，下面一句用了 from where，而未用from which，其中的where=in the tree，即 from where=from in the tree：

He hid himself in a tree, from where he could see the enemy in the distance. 他躲在一棵樹上，從那兒他可以看到遠處的敵人。

2. 有時其后可接when, where引導的賓語從句：

He didnt speak to me from when we moved in. 從大家遷入之時起，他沒和我說過話。

From where I stood I could see everything clearly. 從我站的地方我所有都看得清了解楚。

3. 某些由from…to…構成的習語一般不帶冠詞：

from house to house 挨家挨戶

from time to time 不時地

from day to day 一每天地

from head to foot 從頭至腳, 全身

from beginning to end從頭至尾

from hand to mouth 賺一點吃一點, 僅能糊口
