On July 1st, 1997, this day was a very meaningful day for every Chinese. On this special day, after Great Britain had occupied it for 155 years and Japan had occupied it during the World War II, Hong Kong has finally returned to our motherland, China. 
1997年7月1日，這一天對(duì)每一個(gè)中國(guó)人來(lái)說(shuō)都意義重大。在這特別的一天，香港在被英國(guó)統(tǒng)治了155年，被日本在第二次世界大戰(zhàn)中霸占之后，終于回到了祖國(guó)母親的懷抱。

In 1842, after the government of Qing dynasty had lost battle for Great Britain, China had to sign an unfair contract, the treaty of Nanking with the England. According to the contract, Hong Kong would be ruled by the Great Britain for 99 years. 1842年，由于清政府在戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)中輸給了英國(guó)，中國(guó)不得不和英國(guó)簽署不平等條約《南京條約》。根據(jù)不平等條約，香港被英國(guó)統(tǒng)治長(zhǎng)達(dá)99年。

Deng Xiaoping, who had made great contribution to the return of Hong Kong, first put forward the policy “one country, two systems”, try to rule the country by this way. The history has proved that we walk on the right path. Under the one country two-system policy, the whole country develops fast and stable. 鄧小平為香港回歸做出了巨大貢獻(xiàn)。他率先提出了“一國(guó)兩制”的方針政策，試著用這一政策治理國(guó)家。歷史已經(jīng)證明，我們走上了一條正確的道路。在一國(guó)兩制的方針政策下，我們的國(guó)家快速穩(wěn)定的發(fā)展。

This year is the 17th year after Hong Kong has returned to China. The History has told us that lagging behind, you’ll be bullied and humiliated. We should look into the future, but never forget about the past. Try our best to build our country into a strong and prosper one. 今年是香港回歸的第17個(gè)年頭。歷史告訴我們：落后就要挨打。我們應(yīng)該展望未來(lái)，但是也不能忘記過(guò)去。努力把我們的祖國(guó)建設(shè)成一個(gè)強(qiáng)大、繁榮的國(guó)家！
